The First Customer Praga Bohema is here!
Seven years in development, and just two years since the prototype was revealed, the historic Czech manufacturer Praga has delivered its first customer Bohema supercar. A VIP crowd at Next Level Cars in The Netherlands witnessed the unveiling of the Bohema with a special appearance by F1, IndyCar and endurance racer, Romain Grosjean. As a long-time friend of Praga, Grosjean was involved with the development of the Bohema from concept to prototype to handover: flying in from Miami for the occasion.
Grosjean said: “What a day. I was kinda joking with Praga in 2017 that the world needs an easy-to-drive street supercar that can match GT3 race cars on track and be driven home. Well, they’ve done it. It’s been a pleasure to advise and test the car during its development and to be here to deliver the first car is an honour.”
There will only ever be one first
The first owner of a Praga Bohema is Dutchman, Herman van der Pavert. Herman and his family – known as mclarentwins on their social channels – join a very rare group of car enthusiasts: those who have become the first owner of a brand-new supercar.
van der Pavert said: “I first drove the car at Spa last year and its looks and performance potential blew me away. I was excited to then order the first Bohema:when it arrived I was stunned. The Praga team has done a great job – we have worked closely together since we ordered the car. The quality of the fit and finish is exceptional and to have Romain here is really exciting. I can’t wait to drive it in the spring and see how it compares to my Senna GTR.”
First Bohema in detail : touched by the hand of Frank
The first Bohema’s interior is subtle: with a hand-crafted, black Alcantara interior and black leather-trimmed steering wheel. But the exterior is a dramatic design with a story: van der Pavert first saw the Bohema on The Grand Tour: Eurocrash in 2022 where James May piloted the supercar on track in a special black and orange livery by legendary car designer Frank Stephenson. Initially requesting the orange detailing – to match his McLarens – van der Pavert was persuaded by his #mclarentwins family to go for blue on black.
Also on display at the reveal were a number of Praga’s historic products. The rare 1928 BD 500 motorcycle was joined by the only known examples of a 1916 Praga Mignon and 1942 Praga Piccolo 1128 Sport. The cars and ‘bike were on display with the very limited run 2024 ZS 800 ‘bike – designed and hand-built by skilled engineers from the Bohema team, and just one of 28 available that commemorates the iconic BD 500.
Tomas Kasparek, owner, Praga Cars said: “It’s great we can show the car world the Bohema. We’ve quietly developed this limited-run, lightweight, high-performance road-legal race car, and with Romain presenting it to Herman it’s a new chapter in our history. We’re really proud of over 100 years of engineering and manufacturing, and today we can celebrate a landmark for Praga, for Herman and for the mclarentwins. Our first road car in over 70 years and the first Praga supercar.”
The day after the night before
Word spread quickly about the Bohema during the reveal. Due to public demand, Praga, Paul Waltjen at Next Level, Herman and the #mclarentwins then returned to Waardenburg on Saturday 7th to open up the showroom to can fans and take special guests for passenger rides in Praga’s Bohema test car. Hundreds of enthusiasts visited from across The Netherlands and Belgium for their first glimpse of a first new supercar with its first owner: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
